About Kami
My musical journey has shaped the teacher and musician I am today.

Age 5 - Bulgaria
I started with the piano when I was 5 years old in Bulgaria. I had quite a strict teacher, so I learnt my technique early on.

Classical foundation

In Bulgaria, we learned a bit differently. I didn't do grades, I learnt classical pieces to better my technique and I had compulsory solfeg.

A new sound

I received an acoustic guitar for my 13th birthday and started guitar lessons. Playing pop/rock songs was much cooler that the classical piano so my focus shifted to the guitar.

Age 11 - London
When I moved to London, I switched over to ABRSM piano grades. My technique and knowledge were already at a high enough level that I could just start from Grade 5!

Songwriting spark
My guitar teacher asked me if I had ever thought about writing a song. Up until then, I hadn't even given it a thought, but after my first songwriting challenge, I very quickly fell in love with it.

BRIT School
I was studying music at GCSEs and decided to carry on with my musical studies at the BRIT School. It opened so many creative doors for me.

RNCM - Manchester

I went to the Royal Northern College of Music to continue my studies and decided to major in Singing. This was the first time I had singing lessons, and I learned so much from them. I started a band, "Tropical Boyfriend Catalogue". We wrote and released lots of songs, but unfortunately only got to do a few live gigs...

Performing my songs
I started doing solo gigs around London with my acoustic guitar, performing my own songs and covers. I even tried busking!

Finding my path
After university, Covid put a hold on live performances. I started to think of work I could do in music that wasn't performing. I started teaching at a local music academy, and I quickly started to fall in love with teaching.

2023 - Music with Kami is born
While working at different schools and agencies, I slowly built up my own private students, created a website and gave myself a name. Music with Kami was born, and I've been ironing out the kinks ever since.

2026 - Back to Bulgaria
I made the life changing decision to move back to Bulgaria with my husband for a slower paced life. I'm now by the seaside in Varna. I teach entirely online, its the best job I could ever have. No lesson is the same and that's what makes it so fun!

Boperoos
I started a baby/toddler music class as I realised how important it is to introduce kids to music from an early age. We followed the rainbow method - learning the notes through colour.

Why I do it my way
Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with some wonderful schools, agencies and music organisations, and each experience has taught me something valuable about teaching.

As I gained more experience, I realised that I really value having the freedom to make lessons fun, flexible and personal to each student. Every student learns differently, and I wanted to create a space where I could adapt lessons around the individual rather than follow a one size fits all approach.

That’s what led me back to building Music With Kami — a place where I can bring everything I’ve learned as a musician and teacher together, while giving my students the kind of learning experience I believe music lessons should be.
